Army end BK’s unbeaten record

Defending champions Boeung Ket’s impeccable domestic league record came to an abrupt end on Friday after the back-to-back champions suffered a first defeat of the season going down to Ministry of National Defense 2-0 in gameweek 16 of the Metfone C-League. Goals from Chhin Cheoun and Yoo Jae Ho secured all three points for the Army side.

“Today’s game was tense, especially in the second half,” said Ministry of National Defense coach Phea Sopheaktra. “However, at half-time we saw how well we played in the first half. We played well. In particular, our attack has improved. That’s why we had chances to score.”

“In the second half, they made it difficult for us to score,” said Sopheaktra . “They added players in the second half who could hold the ball and launch attacks. So, we had to defend more against that in the second half.”

Also on Friday, NagaWorld and Phnom Penh Crown presided over another cotentious result as Naga edged the six-time champs 2-1.
